Great write-up... If you're afraid to put your lights in the oven I set mine out in the sun for a while then used a hair dryer and it worked pretty well (oven might've been quicker). Anyway, I used plastidip and it turned out great

Now I really want to do an HID projector kit but I just can't pull the trigger

New person here ... six years after this thread began ... heh!

Thanks much for posting such a clear and detailed write-up! I probably won't do the headlight housing mod, but I have really been wanting to remove some haze buildup from the inside of the lens.

Looks great!! I was actually looking into retrofitting some projectors earlier today. What brand/kit/bulb/size etc. did you go with?

A buddy of mine used OFF! bug spray...and they looked new w/in a few minutes (literally) with just a rag and some minor elbow grease.

I just picked some OEM replacements up on EBAY for 40 bucks shipped to my door. Have not seen that kind of deal since. Just Keep an eye out on EBAY and you may get lucky like I did. :nerd:

I saw this a few months ago and finally got the time to do this. It turned out fantastic! I went with the black and added the white decal because I have HIDs and cant have them blinding people. But man this makes the truck 100 times better!!

What is the recommended product/method for de-hazing the lenses while I have this all apart?

I also did this when I had them apart. I used the 3m kit but it's already fogging after a week. I believe this is happening for two reasons. One, I didn't use all the heavy sanding pads so I didn't get deep enough. Secondly, the 3m kit doesn't have any UV protectant. I have heard the Sylvania has UV protectant either in their kit or separate.

I got the 3M kit & the Sylvania UV protectant kit...will update when complete

Edit: what would be good bulbs to upgrade to since I'll have this all apart anyway? I haven't the foggiest idea about who makes good headlights...
