Because my first 2 trucks I never changed it. Over 150k miles on each. We never changed our work trucks. We never changed our E350 vans, fully loaded, well over 200k miles. Except for the one I broke a axel on. Never changed on my 65, 67 Impalas. Or 73 Caprice. Or 66 and 75 Dodge Darts Never had a differential fail. But have learned it was bad practice.
Never changed my 67 Barracuda.

There is no real way any of us can know. The variables are incredible. If you know of anyone who doesn't, then logic says there are many more. The same holds true for people who change often.

By all the metallic flakes and in my diff oil, I am glad that I changed it!
I had some sheen in my transfer case when I changed out all three, the diff was 99.5% clean but had been done before. I did them all at 69k cause I didn't know what was put back in. Now I do. Peace of mind is worth $100.00 to me, that was all fluids total w/ all Motul synthetic.
