Hey guys I just ordered some HIDs from DDM Tuning. They're going to be so nice I cant wait. Ill have to post up some pics once I get them and install them. We'll see how long it takes. I ordered the 55w digital slim ballasts with the 9007 Hi/Lo bulbs and 8000k for the color. So the 55w should wash them out a little and they should still have a little blue in them. Im stoked!

I don't see how they can with OEM's putting HID lights in their cars.

My Z, for instance. HID lights are standard equipment.

I think tickets would start happening with >6K...if anything.
They already do write tickets for them. HIDs are illegal in any car that did not come with them from the factory. Maybe a CA law only? Almost half the cars on the road run them here, so cops have backed off a little. They will hassle you if they feel the light is "too blue" (usually 8000k and up, like kannibul said). The cop won't give you more than a fix-it ticket, though, but they will pull you over if they feel like being an asshat. I've been pulled over twice for HIDs in my last car (8000k bulbs). Gotta love Cali.
were your 8000ks 55w or 35w. cause i got the 55w and there supposed to look more white.
My 8000k were 35w.....but every brand of bulb is slightly different in color. I've been through a LOT of 8000k bulbs. I've had 8000k that looked like 6000k and others that looked purple-ish blue. It also depends on ballasts...different ballasts will cause variations in color. It's hard to say how they will look. I know they'll look good though
well it at least sounds like you liked the 8,000k except for getting pulled over. im in so cal and ill just have to hope i dont get pulled over. ill definitely report with some pics once i get them installed.
Ya post up the pics when they're in. 8000k's look great. You'll be fine as long as you don't drive like a jackass and attract cops.
I'm glad I live in Mississippi where they don't care about vehicle mods. I"m rockin' 10,000's in my truck and they're BLUE!

^ re-fixed
Ever looked in the rear view and noticed bright blue headlamps while the other 99.98% cars have regular white/yellow lamps? They will really stand out; esp. in Cali!
6000K kit in the fogs. vs. 100W Hellas.

g/l..

btw. DDM has good prices on capsules too if you wanna try the other temps.

Man those probably look sick though with your color truck.
I have to ask, is there enough adjustment in the headlights to point them down enough since you are lifted a bit?
^fixed

by capsules you mean bulbs right? i can just switch out the HID bulbs like normal bulbs once i have the kit?

Well Ive only pointed them down a little bit with my halogens. Ill have to report on that once i get them installed. Im thinking there should be.

^yes, it's PnP with the ballasts

Devius, I always thought 8000k was referring to 8000 degrees Kelvin... not like 8k as in the number 8000. I not entirely positive though. And you're right...even 6000k still stand out like a sore thumb next to any halogen lights.

I say screw it though. Cops will hassle me if they feel like it, no matter what color HIDs i run. I recently switched to 10,000k on my truck.

^Sorry, mis-interpretation on my part.

I've found that 5000-6000K is best for the enviroments that I drive tho'.

Have you gone through any vehicle inspections with the retrofitted lights? If so did anybody even notice they weren't OEM?
I got 5000K in the headlights and the fogs...let me tell you they are bright! When I turn my 100watt hella's on, they almost get drowned out by the HID's lol. I love em, they aren't blue or yellow, they are perfectly white.
