i my self havent pulled my cluster apart yet, but i believe that they are accually LED's already.
they are just tiny little bulbs. it takes about 15 mins to pull the cluster and all the bulbs are easy to get to on the back side. pull the instrument cluster trim and then the 4 bolts for the guage cluster and go to town.

I'd love to see some before and after pics if you do this mod.

I've been wanting to do this, too. I was looking at this site and I'm unsure which one would work.

Super Bright LEDs - Miniature Wedge Base Bulbs

Which bulb from the "Instrument Panel and Gauge LED Wedge Base bulbs" section, will work? I am hoping the 74-xHP3 will work because of the 360 degree beam.
i got some blue leds from superbrightleds.com. pretty cheap and they are pretty advanced and they light up perfect. ill get some pics this weekend maybe. i changed the cluster, the ac knob lights and the shifter light. looks good
I know its an old thread but, Mudslinger, what bulbs did you use and how many did it take?
30 pcs T5 74 3-3528SMD DASHBOARD LED CAR LIGHT Super WHITE | eBay

T5 LEDS in the dash, you will have to modify the a/c knob bulb holders to fit them unless you solder longer terminals onto the bulb. I went with blue LED because they look nicer on a black truck imo. The shifter bulb is the same bulb as your marker lights and your license plate lights. I modified mine to hold two of the t5 leds but one bulb works just the same and they a superbright, I have to dim them to be able to see at night. It is not hard to change them you just have to read the dash assembly carefully to remember not to take the emergency bulbs out(low fuel, oil pressure, check engine, turn signals)
You also have to make sure you get the polarity right on these bulbs which may take a little time.
