I've been reading threads about Froniter axle noise lately...sounds like there has been some kind of issue, since Nissan has been known to replace them under warranty.

I have an '05 SE CC 4X4 6 spd, and have a whining noise coming from the rear end, on throttle, at around 30mph, 50mph, and 75mph. I know that the front (pinion) oil seal is gone, and possibly one of the axle shaft seals. However, I am concerned that because of the cyclic nature of the noise, that it may be gears meshing incorrectly.

I will probably wind up having to get "red lead" and do a rear end gear mesh test myself. I was hoping that someone out there may know something about these symptoms:confused: Please help!

From my experiences, I'd start by jacking up/putting the rear end on jack stands and spinning the wheels to see if you hear any strange noises. Also replacing those seals might be a good idea:)

Oh and check the fluid level in the rear diff as well.
