what I did with my grille

if you go a similar route with the bbq grill mesh thing, be sure to scuff up the finish as much as you can, clean with acetone, prime before the final color coat. My flat black has held up for a year now without any flaking. A rock ding was touched up with a black Sharpie marker.

I cut the mesh a little oversize, large enough to allow black zip tie-ing to several posts on the back of the grille. I did this because I was still testing fitment and possibly using JBWeld to fasten things. But I never went back to alter this because I figured it the mesh was damaged in some way, having to clip off the zips was more convenient vs grinding off JBWeld.
