Mt ball joints need replacing, so I decided to do the front end kit from rockauto. I couldn't find a writeup on how to here, so my ? is do I need to remove the wheel bearing/hub assembly? If I do then I'm just going to replace them at the same time, but won't if I don't have to remove them. Also IF there is a DIY, could someone point me to it.
THANKS

What year truck? 4x4? Mileage?

Not sure what all is included in the front end kit but I'd assume control arms and tie rods?

If yes and 2nd gen, you shouldn't need to remove the hub assembly but you'll have the spindle removed to do the control arms and tie rods and its only another 4 bolts to remove the hubs.

It's an 08 with about 135,000 mile and Yea: Upper/lower control arms and tie rod ends
So I might as well do the hubs at the same time instead of later, to save work?

hubs will be easy to replace since you are breaking it down that far, but by themselves are generally pain free.

your lower control arms are going to be seized lol.
That's what I was thinking. They were in my 06, but I had 210k miles on it. I even soaked the nuts and bolts numerous times with penetrating oil. Still wound up cutting the lca bolts. Pretty easy though with a sawsall.
Don't buy the cheap hubs. They only last between 1 - 6 months. Buy good quality.
Good luck.

Yup!

My lower control arm bolts were seized in the bushing, so soaking wouldn't have worked . We made the call to just get new lower control arms and cut the old ones out.

Ended up being pretty easy, no time lost on seized bolts or replacing the Ball Joint.

New lower control arms can be had for like $75ea online.

Are you doing a lift at all? It would be cake to add some spacers or bilsteins with some cam bolts!

THANKS all

I'm getting Mevotech front end kit (upper & lower control arms & tie rod ends) only 348 for kit from RockAuto - so if I cut the old bolts off, what then? (Never done control arms before) Are they just a nut & bolt I have to replace? If so what size so I can get them before hand.

Moog or Timken Hub Assy, though I noticed Centric are a little more expensive (25$ more each) are they better?
I enjoy offroading being in Western Co and near Moab, and I tow a teardrop camper. So I want durability & reliability - not cheap because they cost more when you break stuff on a trail

Also going to do rotors & brakes on front while I'm at it - just makes sense to me
Looking at Power Stop Z23 Evolution Sport - is this a good choice?

I'm already lifted running 255/85/16 tires and have bilsteins

The lowers are difficult at the spindle ball joint attachment. I did a write up last year, ill try to find it.

Air tools are freaking awesome!
Lca bolts, if your replacing them, just cut with a sawsall. 10 minutes tops for all 4.
I also didn't need a ball joint press. Most front wheel drive vehicles with front struts use a pinch bolt that also passes through a notch in the ball joint stud. At least all that I've done.
Did I mention air tools are freaking awesome? Well they are! Lol.
But it was a very good right up.
Thanks for posting that.?
