This only happens when the truck has been sitting for a few hours. I turn it on and crank up the A/C to high and tons of little clear flakes come out of the vents for about 2 or 3 seconds. They are always blowing in my eyes and it drives me nuts. I was hoping that it would stop soon after I bought the truck new, but it hasn't.

The little flakes get all over the center console of my truck and they look white there, but when you look close at them on your finger, they are clear. Almost like something that is laminated and the plastic lamination has cracked and is coming off.

Anyone else have this on their truck? Does it ever stop? Where is it coming from?

Thanks!

Take it in, I've never experienced or heard of that happening. Maybe something in the cabin filters is coming apart.

Do you use a window sun deflector? Is it old? If so it could be shedding and the particles could be falling into your vents while you're opening it and putting it in your window.

Just one suggestion. I had to buy a new sun deflector because mine was shedding semi-clear flakes everywhere....very annoying.

Its a brand new truck right??? Apparently on the 2009's and 2010's they put this new insulation in the vents and it flakes out. Mine does the exact same thing and freakin DRIVES ME CRAZY!

Brought mine to the dealer twice...both time they just told me it was some dust. I said so why does it look like a snow machine went off in my truck?? They still didn't fix anything for me.

That would be it! The filters look fine.

Snow machine is a good way to describe it, but only for a few seconds when the blower is on high after the truck sits.

I'm just glad I'm not crazy!

I read about this on a 4runner forum once, it turned out that the manufacture puts some sort of coating on the AC coil that is suppose to prevent the "wet" smell of condensation in high humidity. Apparently this coating comes off and hits you in the face. Make the dealer fix it or wait for it to just go away.

There's a couple of threads on this around here. The dealer won't fix it because there isn't much they can do about it... Or they're lazy. Mine did this a lot more when I first got it, over time it has improved considerably. Of course that's because most of the coating blew all over my interior.:thatswck:
