Hey guys,

Just washed my truck the other day and noticed a few spots where the clear coat was crackled. Was wondering if anyone else had this problem (especially on a BLACK truck and how you got around to fixing it. There's 2 or 3 spots no larger than a quarter, one on the hood and one definite on the top of the cab and another on the cab that looks like it's starting...

Thanks ahead of time for any input. If I get the time this week I'll post pictures.

My 01 SEDR had the same problem. Just on the top parts of the truck. I didn't have a car canopy at the time I owned my 2001 SEDR but I would get acorns dropping from the tree onto the truck. Looked like little spidered circles.

Wow, that looks bad man.
Sorry to hear about this.
I have not experienced anything like that and as dubie said other than the Electric Blue trucks I'm not aware of any big Nissan finish problems.

Side note: our 2006 Altima SE-R is Super Black and we don't have anything like that going on with the paint.

I don't think its a Nissan paint issue, someone threw out a sandwich or something a while back and it hit my truck, I took it to the car wash afterwards and cleaned it thoroughly but it must have been on there longer than I realized. I'm just looking suggestions to fix it... and if I find out who did it....

It may be possible to wet sand it out, hard to tell not being there.
If it were me, I'd take it to a detailing place and see what they can do for you or tell you.
Worse case scenario would be a repaint obviously.

one could be very very careful and sand it out. it looks as its the first coat of clear. (i hope nissan didn't just spray one coat) if thats the case it looks like a fresh paint job in the future

i would start with 3000 wet since theres not much fudge room cuz you only have so much to work with on the minimal first coat.

take it easy and be very careful to not burn thru while sanding a buffing.

Thanks for the advice, It does look like it's only the first layer of clearcoat, so once I have sanded that with the 3000 would you recommend going back over it with anything? I would hope like you said there's more than one coat of clear on it but... also, what would you recommend to buff it with?

Thanks for all the help guys

well since it is the first coat. go around the edges with 2000 and knock the big stuff off. then go over it all with 3000 untill its smooth be carefull not to stay in the middle too long.

i use 3M extra cut buffing compound for the first go then i use a swirl mark remover after that i use the ultrafina polish which is the last step.

but you can be fine with the extra cut and swirl mark.

oh i also use 3 different sets of pads. yellow for the extra cut green for the swirl remover and blue for the ultrafina polish.
i may be able to find you a link on the pads im talking about. ill have to ask my dad where he bought them.
