Cigarette Lighter in 07

Has anyone installed a lighter in an 07?
The 07's only have the power outlets. I don't really want to chop up the plug and harness that's for the bottom dash power outlet, but I haven't found a lighter outlet with the same type of connector.
The dealer gave me a lighter and receptacle, but the dash lockring and connectors don't match to to one's for my existing power outlet.

The socket in the dash is just a straight cylinder for power plugs. No catch for the lighter element. The dealer gave me a new outlet socket, but it doesn't work with the locking ring that attaches the socket to the dash and it doesn't have the same type wiring connector.

I plan on using this soon:

2 packs a day = new rock sliders in 2 months.
Not trying to preach. Quitting is a real B1TCH. In the mean time, have you considered adding a bracket under the dash with a lighter? About $10- at WalMart. That way, there's no permanent alteration to the truck.
Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

huh.i never even check or thought about lighter coz I don't smoke. maybe you should for awhile this year, an aftermarket lighter will be made to fit the power sockets. sometimes the lighter comes in handy to fire up the old charcoal barbecue grill at the picnic park when matches or portable lighter are not avail. maybe the 07' are tool to let smokers quit...lol..does the '05-06 has it?

No, the 05-06 do not have it. I believe you have to buy the smoker's package to get it.

On a personal note: Why anyone would by a brand new truck and smoke in it is beyond me. Smoke outside - fine, but you may just kill your resale/trade value from smoking inside.

Appreciate the concern for my health, and encouragement to stop smoking, but it's my choice, my truck. I don't smoke all the time (that's why I generally don't have a lighter with me), but I do light up a cigar fairly often. I would never smoke in the truck with anyone in it that doesn't smoke.

They don't really have a smokers kit, at least for the 07 Fronty. They have a ash cup that fits in a cup holder. I got one of those. The XTerra's have a smokers kit but not the Fronty's. The XTerra smokers kit has a ash cup and a lighter element. The 07 Fronty doesn't have a socket that will accept a lighter element.

Guess I'm stuck with either carrying a lighter in the console or mounting one of the universal lighters as was suggested in one of the previous post.

what about the power outlet in the center console, would it fit in there? i only smoke cigars and its rare but personally i would never use the cars lighter unless i was in dire need to use it. usually keep my snip and lighter in the cigar can with the cigars. also try a wooden match. you wont believe the flavor difference. its kinda like the difference between lighting a cigg with a gas lighter then a zippo. for some reasons they just tasted better with the zippo.

The outlet in the console is just like the dash outlets. It won't take a lighter element either. I took the console cover off to see how the outlets were fastened and how the wiring harness clipped on.

meant can you install the lighter you got from the dealer. pull the power port and see if the whole lighter will fit in there.
The lighter outlet I got from the dealer would fit in the console or the dash, but the locking ring is different. They use a plastic ring that goes in from the front as does the socket. The ring has 2 prongs that go into the metal cylinder and the ring then holds the socket tight against the dash or console. The prong lengths are differrent on the power outlets and lighter outlets. Also, the wiring harness for the power outlets don't match up to the lighter outlet. I didn't really want to cut the end off of my harness, but I would have if the locking ring would have worked.

Most vehicle makers quit putting cig lighters in their vehicles sometime in the eairly 2000's and Nissan was one of them. They no longer make anything for this. It sucks, that thing was always there when I needed it.:damn:

Have you tried just taking the lighter part of the assembly and putting it in the power outlet?

The dealer gave me a lighter element when I picked up the truck. That's when I found out the outlets are different. The power point outlets are just straight cylinders and they don't have a catch for the lighter element.
