I've been watching Engine Masters (Motortrend OnDemand) for a while. They've had some pretty interesting tests that apply to a broader base than just musclecar motors. Most recent episode (Ep 20) they show power losses from mechanical cooling fans. The worst were the direct drive, but even the clutch-type, used in a cold room (which would infer it would lose even more when its hot), lost 7tq and 14hp. A plastic 'flex-fan' lost 19tq & 24hp (next best). They made a point of saying that in the past they'd tested an electric fan and only saw 1-2hp lost due to increased alternator loading.

So, if you are in search of MOAR POWAH!!!! just swap your clutch fan for an e-fan...

Going to electric fans is not either cheap or easy.
