My buddy has a '01 Frontier 4x2 w/ manual trans.. told me his clutch resevoir was black, and probably needs to be changed out.
Guess the hydraulics work the same as power brakes (brake and clutch fluids are the same) and the "bleeding" procedure is used.
Anyone done one of these lately, and can you give a short description on the procedure.. First off, how do you find the bleeder valve on the clutch slave cylinder (does it normally have the "red" tip?)

I figure I'll eventually have to do this on my '05 XE sometime down the road

Same as brakes. Crack the bleeder screw, pump the clutch, make sure the resevoir never gets empty, and make sure no bubbles come out the line.

Let me make a correction to the instructions.
Step one - Remove Fuild from resevoir with a turkey baster wipe clean, then add new break fluid.
Step Two - Have someone pump clutch pedel then hold - Open bleeder til fuild is dripping. Close bleeder and raise clutch pedel by hand
Step three - Repeat until fluid is clear

Thanx for the tip...
However, just wondering if it's alright just to empty out the oil brake/clutch fluids from the resevoir, then add & top off with the fresh fluids.
However, would it be just as effective if doing the above and NOT bleeding it out? In other words, just empty out the resevoir in a couple days and refill, and then maybe one more time, thereby cleaning out any remnants of the old fluids.
Saves some time and hassle of doing the bleeding out thing with the clutch... Will this work??
