I've had this annoying clicking sound for a long A$$ time from under the front end. So today I finally crawled under the truck and checked the driveline. Turns out my front drive shaft has huge sloppy play. I did a little reading on this forum and found two threads. Went out and bought a cordless impact and all the u-joints from NAPA and holy sh!t it's so tight in there you can not squeeze a socket. So back to Sears to get a 14mm long a$$ box end wrench. So who ever said go buy the power tools to do this is crazy. I did the job with simple hand tools. Greased up the ujoints and re installed. TomorrowI will take the truck for a ride to see if the noise is gone.

And if you hit those bolts with a little heat the locktite softens up, and you get to keep your knuckle skin. I put mine back in with blue instead of red.

I didn't have any lock tight. I will have to pick some up today. For now I tightened them up pretty good.

Greaseable...

Make sure to get the greaseable u joints not the non greaseable. Less headache. I did all four last summer and what a difference. Much cheaper than replacing the whole driveshaft as the dealer wants you too.

Are these numbers for front or rear U-Joints?

IT is hard to find a cordless impact that puts down any power. I guess the super high end ones might, but come on: it's cordless! If you had a high power air impact, that would have been a different story.

I have been turnign wrenches for 20 years or so. About 4 years ago I finally got a compressor and air tools. What a difference. It cuts many job times down in half!
