I recently changed from pennzoil 5w30 conventional oil to mobil 1 5w30 fully synthetic oil. Is it just me or does this increase hp or torque? My truck seems a bit peppier and the oil heats up better now.
It's all in your head.I recently changed from pennzoil 5w30 conventional oil to mobil 1 5w30 fully synthetic oil. Is it just me or does this increase hp or torque? My truck seems a bit peppier and the oil heats up better now.
So it's not just in my head?penzoil and fram = bad.
Penzoil is good oil. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Fram filters on the other hand....So it's not just in my head?
Agreed - carryover myths from the 70's.Pennzoil is very good.
From there lowest line conventional to there premium synthetcis, they consistently show good used oil analysis results.
+1Agreed - carryover myths from the 70's.
Unfortunately, many were propagated by mechanics - whose tribology credentials are below questionable.
whats your gas mileage now? ive been runnin about 16-18 with CAI and a flowmaster using conventional oil. Ive heard that FRM filters aren't that great. That's what I've always used but now I use NAPA gold filters.:smart: I don't know about HP because Mobile is all that has been in mine but when switching to syn my MPG went way up. Good job, drop the Pennzoil like a rock. Don't know why but I have never liked Pennzoil. I group it with Fram.
Actually never mind. Looks like they still think cardboard and hot oil work well together.+1
And I'm sure even the Fram failures are overblown as well. They are cheap and constructed poorly, but when you think of how widely they're used across North America without incident, your chances of having an incident with them are probable infinitely small.
