Suppose I'm looking for tech advice, or just general advice... I am sure this has been answered countless times and in countless ways, but I'm looking for just a definitive answer, so I'll just ask the definitive question...

I got my firestik in today (4 foot) and I'll be mounting it on the back jutting out from between the tailgate and the lower portion of the taillight. I know it's going to have a bit of play, especially on rougher roads, so does anyone add any support to the antenna towards the top of the bed? I know it's only about a foot up from the main bracket, but I would think that would cut down on the movement of the antenna a bit. Would it be worth supporting or no? I do have the spring for the base but I'm still not sure if I'm going to utilize it or not...

I mounted mine in the bumper. I have a 4 foot flexible K40 that I use a blue (I have a blue truck) racquetball to protect the taillight area.

Couple of cable ties and slit the ball and slide it down over the antenna.

The 3 foot fiberglass firestick is rigid enough it doesn't hit anything.
