I have the Magnaflow on my 3.3 and love it. I would suggest going with a high flow air intake also. I did Mag cat back, k&n intake, and vortex throt. body spacer, good low end torque improvement, and gas mileage +3 (14 to 17, and 17 to 21) I like the sound, it's not v8, but oh well.

you do not show your location!! important for many reasons, a cheap muffler shop or similar mild steel system lives about 3 years in my state Pa but in drier areas that see no snow or salty roads it lasts a lot longer. almost all exhaust shops crush bend requiring an upsize compared to mandrel bent piping!!

I have a pretty good custom intake and i saw that one I wasn’t sure if it was direct though I talked to my mechanic about a high flow cat and custom 2.50 inch exhaust from first cat back and he said unless their is holes along the piping or damage he personally wouldn’t mess with it until it needs to be replaced witch is understandable but also it is one of those things I really would like done. Also he said that some cat backs are direct fit but some like a lot of other parts that say it’ll fit but doesn’t align or what not.

I don’t want to get the magnaflow catback or any catback and run into fitment issues or have a hassle.

I had a local shop put a Flowmaster (can’t remember the series) on my truck when it was new because I couldn’t hear the OE to shift. A few years ago, I replaced all of that with the Magnaflow cat-back. As far as fitment, it was great. I should have a thread somewhere on it, but installation was a breeze. The only oddity I remember was that the muffler had two hangers on it and my OE only used one. I don’t know if this is a 6 cyl vice 4 cyl thing, but I had the threaded holes in the frame for a second hanger which I picked up from my local Nissan dealership and everything lined up perfectly. I am 99% sure that the OE piping was smaller than the Magnaflow diameter and that the Magnaflow matched the diameter for the OE pipe “cat forward”.

All that said, I don’t think you’ll find the Magnaflow as “throaty” as the Flowmaster. You’re best bet may be trying to talk your local guy (or someone else) into building a custom system for you.
