Any one half a problem only being able to fill the tank half way? It is the 3rd gas station I went to and I cant get more than half a tank!! This last time I tried to keep feeling it and gas came out of the top. Anyone have any ideas? Going to take it to the dealership tomorrow if I try for the 4th time and does it again...

Guessing you've tried the lowest/slowest setting?
Yep, bring it to dealer for warranty issues.

Possibly someone overfilled the gas tank (topping it off too much) and gas got into the evap canister ?
I can't imagine the Evap canister would be plugged with dirt/dust on a almost brand new 2016 model?
I have the same problem sometimes but I have a 2012 and lots of dusty dirt roads.
Sometimes I have to position the fuel pump nozzle a little different (pull it out a little) and that helps...might get you by untill the dealer looks at it.

How many gallons will go in? If it truly is only half capacity (about 10 gallons) I would suspect there is an issue with the EVAP system as mentioned. If the gauge is only showing half full there may be a problem with the fuel sender in the tank.

Both issues are somewhat common but typically only show up between 50-100k miles.

No let it get down to like an 1/8th tank before I fill, but then the pump just stops after so many gallons, I take it out and try it again, ive tried filling on a slight angle.... still cant fill up the tank... going to Nissan sf tomorrow... so weird

I have a similar issue. Am also certain that it is due to a clogged EVAP system. Been this way for years. Right now it is worse then ever. i think that whatever is clogging mine is very wet, and it has frozen. Will start clicking in the first gallon. I have even held the vapor recovery skirt back by hand, like when you fill a jerry can or a motorcycle.

Interested to know what the problem is because I might have a similar issue.

Since purchasing the truck, (~2800 miles as of me writing this) I have never been able to put in the 21.1 gallons of fuel that the tank is rated for. The most I have gotten into the tank according to the gas pump is 17.6 gallons of fuel. This is with the orange low fuel light on, and the DTE showing "----".

It is my belief that most car manufacturers put a margin of error in their fuel readout to avoid people running their tanks dry, but I wouldn't think it be be 3.5 gallons.

I was thinking it just might be a bad sensor, or needing a recalibration, but just haven't had a chance to get to the dealer.

Bump for your findings.

17.6 is a full tank. I am sure the gas gauge shows full. The claimed size of the tank is NEVER the amount of useable gas it can hold. I ran my truck for 60 miles past the zero miles left mark and was able to put in 18.

The op is stating that he can only get the tank half full, as indicated by the fuel level gauge, and the pump clicks off.

Well here it is!!! It is posted on the Nissan Service Bulletin... It is the EVAP canister and vent control that needs to be replaced and then jimmy-rigged with some foam.... not exactly the most professional fix... I am hoping this is the last thing to go wrong with my brand new Pro-4x.... 1st was the power steering hose clamp wasn't tightened from factory and now this.... its fixed, hope its the last time I have to bring it in besides just maintenance :/

read this thread and was thinking to myself I am thankful I have a 2014 without these issues. Went to get gas and bam pump kicked off and there was some gas spillage :(.

I never pump full blast but it's cold and windy so I figured I would go balls to the wall for 3/4 of the tank and then slow it down at the end. Well the guy on the other side of me must have been trying to make his dollar amount even by constantly clicking his pump trigger. Every time he did this my nozzle would pulse. I am pretty sure this is what caused my issue but I will keep an eye on the situation.

I hate wasting gas and getting it on my paint.

I was curious to this fix as well. Hope it turns out good for you.

Not related...I've had problems in the past with different equipment from insects. Mud dobbers, spider web and caccoon building creatures clogging up small orifices.

I'm glad this appears to be an easy fix.

I have a new 2016 SV and had a similar problem. Here's what I've noticed, and have seen many complaints about this issue. However you have described it differently. Problem is the light comes on at about 240 miles, and I've noticed this has nothing to do with the amount of gas in the tank(I.E. I no there's a float which send the signal Maybe...)

For Me
I'm getting 18MPG and at 20 gallons of gas that put's me at 360 miles before I'll put gas in my in truck. So really I drive around for like thee days with the gas gauge on. Yes I think there's a recall here.
IMO
