Greetings!

As some may know, the mid-Altantic region got socked with upwards of 2ft of snow. I live in central VA in a very rural area off a dirt gravel road. My driveway is about 600ft and was wondering if my 2010 LE 4x4 can navigate through the snow if I put it in 4Lo. I don't have any way of plowing my driveway and since the Frontier sits up pretty high, do you think it could handle the 600ft if driven slowly and with care? I just want to clear a path out to the road so when it warms up enough the sun will melt the snow quicker if I have cleared a path with the truck.

I've had the truck for a bit over two months and can't say enough good things about it. I am quite pleased with it and feel I picked a winner!

Thanks for any/all comments

Regards - Mickiemac

I would say yes but the long trails wont bite as well as a rugged trail or other more agressive tread pattern. The snow may be high but its soft and that will let you roll over it and not drag on the bottom of the truck. A dense snow would be difficult to move over. Years ago (1996) we had a major storm in NJ and I drove everywhere with a Nissan hardbody with zero trouble.

On second thought are the 2010's getting long trails as stock tires? My 2008 came with them. The LE's have more car like tread.

Yes.
Be sure to load up the Bed with at least 200 pounds of weight, ( are you still friendly with your Ex? ROFL) Does your model have the rear locker? Enjoy the Fronty snow performance while it lasts. Pics?

The truck can handle it...
Tires wont like it.
Driver is an unknown.
4Lo may not be the best choice. in snow and mud, you need the wheel speed to keep the tread cleaned out.

Mine did this morning (4am) without any problems. Not quite 2 ft, but 21" is close enough

How are the 2wd Nismo's and Pro-4x's in the snow with weight in the bed?

In 2ft of snow you will be fine in 4HI.

Aside from that, it is mid december and you are going to let 2ft of snow sit in your driveway? I am not familiar with winter in VA but if you leave that to freeze it will make a mess of your brand new truck.

With good rubber and 4HI you shouldn't have any problems, but the only time i ever got my ride stuck in edmonton (where it tends to dump frequently) was when i hit a snow drift that was too big and bottomed out, havn't had that problem since i lifted it a bit tho...

4hi and you'll only be going slow because you will have the skinny pedal slammed to the floor and the bloody ABSL will be taking 60% of your power away. turn your VDC off and pin it - the joys of an LE

move forward slowly until you can't....back up.....get momentum forward and make a bit more progress....back up......get momentum forward.....etc...etc.

Keep doing that until you get to the end of the driveway and you should be fine.

Drove my truck all over PA this weekend. Put about 200 miles on it, and i would say 50% of it was in 20 inches, un-plowed and un-paved. Never had so much fun in a truck before! I would say the biggest limitation any truck whold have would be the driver. I'm sure some woman some where could get a tank stuck in 2 inches of snow. So If you use common sence, 2 feet of snow is do-able.

And like some one else said about the extra weight in the back. It would help, but deff not necesary. IMO

Our local report said we got 26", school is closed and I haven't left the house yet, still inside.....mostly because of 6 hours of moving snow yesterday. The snow was higher than my bumper at the garage door, and that looked like a recipe for getting stuck to me.

Thanks for the replys!

Howdy again:

Thanks to all for your comments/replys. I got out today and moved the truck about 40 ft forward then back. Only another 560 ft. to go! I did turn off the VDC as one poster suggested and got more traction. Since all LE's come with the Long Trail tires the grip isn't as good as the PRO-X4 tires. Anyway, it's gonna be in the mid-30's today, tomorrow and Wednesday which will help. Since I'm retired I don't have to go anywhere but wanted to make sure I could get out if I need to. From the local news reports the roads are still pretty bad so even if I made it out I have a time getting around.

Best regards and Christmas Cheers!!
