Anyone know if it's possible to install a camper topper over an existing sliding toolbox for the utili track system?

The toolbox is quite useful, but I want a camper topper so I have a place for my dogs on trips. I've already looked at some used ones and it seems like it might work, but I'm not so sure about the clamps that are going to need to be used. It seems like the brackets for the sliding toolbox might be in the way.

Before I go making offers to people I'd like to know if it's even possible to mount the thing with my toolbox in place. It would be pretty embarrassing to get all the way there and not be able to get it installed

I don't have the Utili track, but I can anticipate you may have 2 issues - mounting the clamps, and if the box itself interferes with the cap fitting.

The cap's designed for the fronty slope inward pretty quickly - to match the cab. So if your toolbox sits above the level of the bed rails then it could interfere with the cap itself. That would depend on the cap manufacturer itself - how thick it is, etc. No real way to tell I don;t think until you measure everything, or have the seller measure the interior width at a given height above the bottom and let you know?

For the clamps - I can tell you the clamps I have for my topper - the ones designed for the purpose with 2 aluminum pieces and a bolt holding them together and to tighten, are just big enough for my SV with no track. I don't think they would fit around the track in either depth or thickness. I have seen others using plain old C-clamps, which I presume you could use and could get in any size you wanted, however I don't know how well they hold tight? I woudn't trust them, and would likely just drill holes and use bolts if I were in that position, but I can understand why you may not want to drill.

Thanks.
The toolbox I believe is the Nissan utili track toolbox. It does sit slightly higher than the railing. I hadn't considered it may be angled such that the toolbox would cause interference. I wouldn't mind if the toolbox couldn't be opened all the way in that position because I could still release it and slide it back depending on where the brackets for the topper fit.
The toppers I have seen so far all had the clamps like you mentioned. They're just two pieces of aluminum with a bolt to tighten them.
Snapped a few pictures of the toolbox for reference.

The lip on a topper comes at least an inch or more inside over the bed edge, I'd say it definitely won't fit.

My camper shell is locked onto my utility rails like this. You can see the end of the rail. About the same distance from the end both front and back. Looks like the tool box is going to interfere unless you move it some to the rear. But like Clint mentioned the side clearnace to the edge of the shell might be a deal breaker.

What the heck. Why won't this picture display. here is the link

Thanks for the replies all.

I had hoped I could have it both ways.

Wish I had pictures of the clamp from the topper. It doesn't hook into the utili track rails. I'll attach a picture of what it basically looks like.
I had hoped it would slide in and sit in between the rails and the toolbox but what I didn't consider is how much overlap there will be in the sides and up in the front. The toolbox sits super close to the edge of the bed so if there's basically any overlap I can see the issue.
