For those not taking part in GoneMOAB this year, there is a nice alternative during that same week (in May) in Cal4Wheel's two-day Mojave Run. The run traverses 83 miles of the complete 121-mile long Mojave Road, including one night of camping and excursions to Hole-in-the-Wall, Kelso Depot, and Lava Tubes. Most participants are going to be Jeeps, with some Broncos and Toyotas in the mix. I've now run twice with this group on the Snowfest (CF Member RikRong may have done more), and they're a great bunch of folks.

The cost is $25 if you're already a member of Cal4Wheel; otherwise, $70 including membership fee.

I ran the Mojave Rd a couple months ago and really enjoyed it. Not much technical wheeling, but so much history and lots of places to explore. I liked it so much that I'll likely run it every year until I get sick of it. Highly recommended if you're into this sort of stuff!
