Now if he catches the "modding" bug that most of us get, you are in for a heck of a time, lol. You may be SASing in the future.
If he catches the "modding" bug then he will also need to catch the "earn some money" bug. :)
If its a open filter I'd go with whatever is the least costly and has the better of the heat sheilds
x's 2 on volant cai, just have to figure how to get a dry filter-and figure out what the point of the spout is on the side of it?
^ I'll take a picture on my truck but I think its connected to a vent line on the ABS module.

Good point on the heat shield. The JWT pop-in option would not have a heat shield so while it may increase flow, it will not seperate heat.
ok ive been away for a while. ordered the nismo CAI and tried to install it last night and it didnt fit in. im not by any means a solid machanic so i had my buddy come over and look at it this morning and he just said flat out that it isint gonna fit. the heatshield hits the small piping that comes out of the radiator. where i highlighted is what im talking about.

has anybody else had this problem on an 01? the pictures in the install didnt have that piping at all too. Does the 98-00 have that? or am i just special?

i installed the same Nismo intake on my 2000 frontier with no problem and im definitely not a mechanic. the nismo intake specified that the cold air intake was for frontiers 01-04. i knew that the 2000 engine bay was basically the same so i risked it. like i said it fit nicely and had it installed within the hour. maybe you're installing the heat shield the wrong way? or not??
I just bought a 2007 that came with the nismo cai. The filter needs replaced. What do you guys recommend?

You should not have problems with the NISMO instal. I think that you need to post up some picks for us to assist.

I had mine installed on 2003. Your truck looks like a 2002-2004.

BTW: The pipe coming out of the radiator as you say is an AC pipe and does not come out of the radiator but goes to the coil in front of the radiator.
I installed the cheapest I found on eBay, had it for over a year and works great, fit was good and has a nice heat shield.
