Has anyone else noticed how well their cab and bed align? I am alittle upset to just notice this after having owned my truck now for almost 3 months! I investigated it some and from my measurements it seems like the back of the cab is about 1/4 inch out of ka-dink to the driver's side of the truck.

In other words the back of the cab and bed show about a 1/2 inch difference from the driver's side as compared to the passenger side. I'm pretty sure it's always been like that and I am just noticing it now. There is no sign of damage that I can tell and everything matches up horizontally perfectly. Looking at the body of our frontiers it seems almost designed to hide a discrepency like this as compared to my coworkers '94 ranger that matches perfectly or a chevy that just a deference would have been much more noticable.

What, if anything can I do about this? Is it just typical of frontiers?
Anyway, here are the pictures:

the dealer will have it adjusted under warranty. In 2002 many had a crooked bed and they took care of them.

I just noticed tonight, after having the truck for 2 weeks, my bed is also about 1/2 inch out of alignment. A quick search and I found your thread. Did the dealer fix this for you? Is this typical? I would hate to go in there sounding like a winger. :)

Was driving by the dealership today so thought I would pop in and have a look at the Frontiers on the lot. 3 2010's and 1 2007 were on the lot and all had the some offset bed, exact same as my truck. I guess this is a feature no a defect, for Canadian trucks at least.

I haven't taken mine into the dealer yet...I figured I'd have them look at it at my next oil change later this summer. My problem is that I think the BED is spot on...the CAB is what's out of whack. I think if they align the bed it will hide the issue. I'm not sure if/how they can re-align the cab???

I'm a bit curious about what the reasoning behind this conclusion is...

My reasoning is that I own a tape measure and crawled under my truck and used it. The bed is spot on side/side with the frame. The cab is off in the rear as compared to the frame. Check my pictures of the undercarriage above you can kind of see it. Compare the bolts left and right...you can see more "grey" showing on one side than the other. This is backed up my use of tape measure side/side.
It looks to me like the cab is correct towards the front and drifts out towards the rear.

To get the look you want with the least amount of trouble, I'd move the bed and leave the cab alone. As long as the truck tracks straight it doesn't matter if the body is off a drop. If you take it in and they made it perfect visually you wouldn't know the difference. Certain things need to be done prior to the first twelve thousand miles. Take it in now instead of waiting to show them.

It tracks fine. I figure they'll will tell me the same about moving the bed instead of the body. I'm a perfectionist and that really upset me that they could let the cab get that far out of straight with the frame. I discovered this literally the next day after getting my oil changed at 2500 miles. I only have 3K now. I'm just concerned if I get a cap put on later it will be noticable. You are right sooner would be better. I know I need to get it in, but I should have more time later this month for such hassles.

Because of this thread, I went out and looked at mine tonight. Everything seems to be straight on mine, bed and cab.

Good luck getting everything back to where it should be!
I went to my dealer on a sunday on my way home from work... They had 3 Frontiers on the lot and they were all perfectly straight. I guess it's hit or miss. It must have been right before lunch when they put my cab on.

TLBones,

Sorry, for an off topic question, Is this your 1st free or a paid oil change ? I had two free oil change tickets plus a free oil change program, and been told that I can get oil change at every 3 months or 3750 miles whichever occur first, but also been told I must get near 3K or above in-order to get a free oil change, and I didn't know you can get them change it at 2500 miles, so I wonder if this is a free ticket one or a paid by you ? Thanks, and sorry for off topic question again.

TT,
It sounds like your dealer has different system than mine. My dealer has some hokey points card deal that the load with enough points to get your first oil change then if you keep getting it serviced/buying parts accessories, etc. you build up more points. I think it's a way to negate anyone trying to negotiate too many free oil changes when they buy. When I took it in the check-in guy mumbled something about it being a little early, but said that was fine if that's what I wanted.

You guys inspired me to stop by on my way home from work today to get this checked out. The service check-in dude didn't understand what i was trying to tell him. At first he didn't even see it! Eventually he saw what I was talking about and told me I had to come back next week when the head service manager was back from vacation.... we'll see....I have a feeling this won't be easy!

Stop by a body shop and get an opinion. If they are nice enough to put it in writing the dealer will look like a d!ck if they say there's nothing wrong.

I visited the dealer again today. After having another service rep tell me he couldn't see it I got the head service manager involved. Luckily he saw it almost immediately! We examined another frontier that was just about perfectly matched and compared it to mine. He agrees it's about 1/4 inch off. I also noticed one other frontier on the lot that was not matching up either..but was a bit better than mine! The SM is calling Nissan to find out what to do and promises to get back to me as soon as he gets answers. I'll let you know what happens!
