Hi Everyone,

I recently had my truck in the car audio shop to get aux power ran to the bed. In the winter time, I'm going to hook up an inverter to power some ski boot warmers : )

After I picked the truck up, I noticed a strange buzzing noise coming from the engine compartment. I'm not 100% positive if the noise was there before the install or not. However, if I disconnect the aux power circuit altogether, the noise still persists.

Does anyone else's truck make this sound? Is it normal? My truck is a 2017 with only 10K miles. I made a 15 sec video so you can hear the sound. You can view it here:

I don't think it is normal but don't have any idea what it is. Does this happen with key in off or on position. I opened my hood on my 2008 and did not here a noise like that with key on or off.

Thanks for the reply Bob. It only happens when the key is on. I can’t tell if it makes the same sound when the engine is running, because all the other noise drowns it out. I looked a little closer last night and I think it’s coming from a sensor on the throttle body.

This morning I noticed while I was driving down the road my throttle seemed off. I was in second gear and coasting probably 15mph in my 99 frontier kind a hard to describe exactly what was happening but the idle seemed to be changing and the truck would act as though I downshifted but then a couple seconds later go back to just regular coasting and you could hear a change in rpms. When I got home I turned the truck off but left the key on it was then that I heard the strange humming noise coming from the engine bay naturally I investigated. I couldn’t seem to find the source of the noise but for whatever reason I decided to unscrew the oil cap from the top of the motor as soon as I did the noise went away not a clue what this means or what caused it But if you’re experiencing the strange noise I’m curious to know if it stops when you takeoff the cap for your oil. Also if this gives anybody a clue as to what the cause of the noise was I’m curious to know

Where you ever able to figure out the source of this noise? I posted a reply as to my experience this morning and just curious if you were ever able to figure anything out
