OK...I need to start planning and gathering parts for my Titan Rear End swap. Don't plan on going any higher than 33" tires and currently have the C200 rear end and want to go to the Titan M226. Truck is to remain 2WD so no worries about matching anything gear ratio wise in the front.

To begin with I'm not sure if I should grab a axle housing from a wrecked Titan and stuff some Superior Gears and an ARB in it or if I should just order the bare axle housing from Nissan direct and build it out from there.

Reccomendations on building the strongest setup possible?

Am I correct in saying there are no upgraded axles available yet and just the R&P from Superior? Has going to the ARB and Superior R&P eliminated the rear end failures?

i would make sure you stay with 07 and lower titan rear end due to the spline change on the axle shafts
nissan will not sell you a bare housing so i would try and find a blown one or one from a junkyard
going with superior gears and ARB will be your best bet , unless you want an LSD you can do the true trac

Your best bet is to buy an axle from an 04-07 to ensure that both a TT and an ARB will fit. If you get the 08+, nothing works yet since it is a 35 spline over the 32 spline set-up.

Since you are a 4banger, superior gears are a must and probably the 4.56 ratio since you are probably already 4.1 and you want to increase the tire size.

You can do what TO did and add the TT and sleeve the axles and then have angle supports welded to the exterior to prevent bending. This should give you the best set-up.

I wonder thou, how much would custom axles cost?

I think the thing to really look at is a MC swap to work with the bigger brakes so you can stop when you are really moving.

Side Note: Have you seen my Titan brake swap idea thread?

How have the newer 35 spline setups been holding up? I assume the axles themselves are stronger but what has this done to the failure of rear ends—spider gear and R&P wise? The axles I didn't think were ever really an issue, anyone know what the thinking was in moving to 35 splines?

Additionally, using the 32 spline setup will allow me the choice of either the TT or the ARB, both of which rid me of the spider gears?? I was pretty sure the TT eliminated the use of the spider gears but was unsure of the ARB. (I've only viewed and worked on swapping out one rear end for another, never installing a TT or R&P, so was unsure on this part)

more spline count increases strength, custom axles are easy go to companies like Mark Williams, Stange, etc. I have 35 spline chrome moly gun drilled axles in the race car from Mark Williams with 5/8" studs. But being a 4 banger, why are you even doing this? The issue with broken diffs has almost always been with spider gears in the lockers, llockers put ALOT of stress on them and thats why they break.

It never hurts reliability to overbuild something does it? I want as solid a rear end as possible (though would like to keep to Nissan parts if feasible)...

One thing I keep inquiring about but haven't gotten a definitive answer on yet is if putting in a Detroit Truetrac (or ARB for that matter) replaces the spider gears?

Only the reliabilty of your wallet(preaching to the choir here)
and it does replace the spider gears. locker, open diffs, true trac all have new self contained spider gears as a complete unit. You bolt on ring and pinion and set up for proper preload and gear pattern and youre done

I have a quick question. We have all seen many people doing the Titan swap on the front. I'm assumeing that the front diff is stronger then the stock frontier. Why has no one donethis with the rear? We commonly see frontiers with trashed rear diffs. Is it possible to do a front and rear Titan swap? Is this the answer to are weak drive lines?
