So I was on my way to work lastnight, and all of a sudden my truck statred to sound like a diesel. I could tell that the exhaust had broken somewhereon the passenger side, so after I got home from work I poped the hood and looked, the cat converter is broken in half right above the O2 sensor. Ill probably just take if off and wled it back together.

is it the manifold that broke or the cat? i have broken many manifolds, but never the cat.

if the manifold...you might as well buy a new one. welding on cast steel doesn't work very well.

Pretty sure it is the cat, it is like an inch in front of the 02 sensor. I wont know for sure untill sunday evening when I get a chance to look at it closer, and hopfully fix it. If it is part of the manifold then I will definitely get a new one. Does the cat bolt onto the manifold, I cant see because of the heat shield?
