I just purchased a 2016 Frontier S this last week and am looking for the following accessories for the truck:

1 - Sunshade to keep it cool and protect the dash

2 - Seat covers to protect the seats

3 - Mud flaps for the front and rear (Nissan MSRP is $70/set)

For the sunshade I am considering a CoverKing custom shade for about $28. I'd like to see/feel the seat covers before I buy ... but local availability of product is lacking. Anyone purchase any of these items for their truck and care to make a recommendation? Looking for positive and negative recommendations.

Thank you ..

Congrats on your new truck purchase! You don't have any of your "About me" profile filled out. For sun shades I like the thicker more sturdy ones, they seem to last 10yrs and never fall from behind the visors. I got mine at the base Shopette, military. They carry a well made one, it was around $20-30 I believe. I never had seat covers on any of my vehicles. In the 80's I remember how much I hated ill-fitted ones so I've never ever looked into them as a adult. As far as mud flaps get the OEM ones, $70 is reasonable. Have fun with your truck. The "S" is the least expensive package right? Did you get 4cyl or V-6? Is it 2wd or 4x4?

I will try to remember to fill in the anout-me info. This is my third Nissan. I have been driving thrie trucks since late 1994. I live in a hot, sunny environment and a sun shade is a must. The seat covers that I've used are usually found locally, are of acceptable quality and keep the seats looking new, even 10+ years later. I may get the splask guards but $70 for only a pair? Come on Nissan ... you've got to be kidding ...

As far as seat covers go, I purchased a set CR-Grade neoprene by Coverking from Car Cover USA. They're a little pricey, but I wanted something that would last and protect my seats because I work in construction. The quality and fit are excellent. They custom make these to your seat options after you place your order, because Nissan has many different seat options for the Frontiers as I found out when ordering mine. I've had my truck right at three weeks now and ordered the seat covers right after I purchased the truck, just got the front covers last Wednesday and the rear seat covers according to FedEx should be delivered by end of day tomorrow.

Not real sure about the sun shade, never used one, but I guess anything would be better than nothing.

I would probably recommend the factory mud flaps, because I don't think the aftermarket ones would look as good.

I didn't get smart enough to use sun shades until my 30's. They really keep the car cooler and I know dash material is nothing like the plastic and vinyl of the 70's and 80's that would crack after a couple years in the sun. But I still feel the interior of the car is protected with the sun shade.

Costco had/ has a sun shade for $5 my brother just picked one up for me. If you have air bags in your seat make sure the seat cover is made so they don't interfere with them deploying.

I tried but couldn’t beat Nissan’s hitch, splash guards, bug deflector and floor mats. Especially the hitch - the Nissan unit is a Class IV, fits nice and tight and has a plate to mount the wiring. The only complaint I had was the deflector is a total PITA to install with all its micro-plastic fasteners. You get a discount if you order online and free shipping if you pick it up at the dealer. Check to see if you have any accessory points.

Like Blue Devil I’ve never bought a set of seat covers (I remember people getting nearly suicidal whenever they discovered the mess under their car bras). I’m pretty easy on the equipment but the covers 4x4Chris posted look awesome!

I’m no help on sun visors - I go for the cheapest accordion-folds that I can find.

Piggy-backing onto your thread OP:
I'm close to ordering some seat covers as well. The neoprene covers always look good in pics, but I hear/read about the complaints of them not breathing in warm/hot weather. Am thinking I'll be looking into a sport-mesh as I want the tight/good looking fit...but with some breathability. Thoughts from out there?

No matter what, you're gonna get mud on your truck if you drive on gravel OR off-road. My truck has the OEM flaps and step rails, and I still loaded it up with mud in only four miles (these would be considered "good roads", too).

That's why owning a car wash can make a man rich in rural Missouri, I guess.

The mudflaps and step rails kept MOST of the mud off the bodywork, but there's still a lot on there (I drove 500 miles home in the rain, and yes, the mud is still there). Missouri mud is sticky.

Something to keep in mind if you bought your vehicle new: if you add genuine Nissan accessories, they will be covered under your 3-year/36000 mile bumper to bumper warranty if there's a problem with them. Plus, they fit and look right.

He didn't ask about your position on mud flaps, he was asking on where to get them cheap. Your input is unhelpful.

Sir, every response has been helpful and I appreciate them all. I found a fairly good deal on some Dickies (yes, they make seat covers to) seat covers. They should last a few years and they are a 9/10 fit. Still considering sunshades and will probably suck it up and buy the OEM splash guards.

Used OEM mud/splash guards appear fairly regularly in the Classified section under 'Parts' here at CF.

Really? By giving him some unvarnished information, he was free to make his own decision on whether or not to buy them at all. Frankly, I don't think they're worth ANY amount of money, as they aren't much help at keeping the truck bodywork clean.

I was just being "nice" and realistic about it. I don't know what you're trying to imply, but I ain't buyin' it.
