Not sure if this adapter has been mentioned before and if so I had missed it. PAC makes an adapter to bypass the Bluetooth module when installing an aftermarket head unit with its own built in Bluetooth . I installed a car-joying unit and all my steering wheel controls worked except for the two button for send and hangup a call. Once I used this I was able to map out all the buttons.

I purchased it through Volunteer Audio: PAC ? BT-SWC-NI1 ? Volunteer Audio

Just want to clarify that I understand the need for this because I plan to install an aftermarket BT stereo next year.
If I'm reading this right, removing the factory stereo does NOT remove the factory bluetooth module, and so to use the steering wheel phone controls you need this because the factory steering wheel controls won't actually reach the aftermarket stereo? am I understanding this correctly?

Correct, the Frontiers Bluetooth is a separate module and with my 2014 it was located under the front passengers seat. What this adapter does is connects the wires from the steering wheel controls to the wiring going to the harness at the HU instead of having to cut and splice wiring yourself.

Then depending on the HU whether it can assign the steering wheel controls or not you may need the Axxess ASWC-1 - Steering Wheel Control Adapter. The Car-joying HU I purchased was able to do this so I did not have to add that adapter.

I know this question sounds dumb, but I am baffled at this point and maybe someone else had the same issue. I have a 2015 Frontier SV. Has Bluetooth steering wheel controls. Trying to install the bluetooth adapter. Everywhere I looked, the Bluetooth control module should be underneath my front passanger seat. It is not there. I only see wiring for the seat heater, airbag sensor, but no Bluetooth module. Is there another location for this? I can't find it anywhere.

I have a 2016 Nissan frontier bought and new stereo and the BestBuy tech says I dont have a bluetooth module because he cant find it. I did look under front passenger seat and I dont see one either, but every where I read says I do. But he says I cant retain the sw controls. Is there any where else this module would be?

Instructions on this was a joke. I spent countless hours trying to figure this out with my 2015 Nissan. I reached out to Pac-Audio and it turns out that unless you have the Premium Audio with Amp, there is no Bluetooh module and the Bluetooth is build into the head unit. So no need for the BT adapter. I was did have trouble with a few of my controls in which Pac Audio helped me with the following instructions:
If the steering wheel controls are working then there is no bluetooth module in the vehicle. If the bluetooth module were there, none of the controls would work as the entire circuit runs through the BT module (not just the BT buttons). What is happening here is most likely the BT buttons are slightly off from the pre-programmed resistance values stored in the CP2. Does the light on the CP2 flash green when you press the buttons that are not working? If it does not, then we will need to manually program the buttons using the guide I have attached to this email. You will unplug the unit, move the 1-8 dip switches up (off) and plug it back in. Then go down the programming list for your brand stereo.

Any update on mapping those bluetooth buttons with jastran's method?
