AMI antenna's

I've had one for a long time. Works well. Still have fairly good reception in and around town. Chose black to blend in with the truck.

I use a "Fuba", now O.E on Toys, GMs, BMWs, Audis; gotta shave 1/2" of rubber off the base tho'.

No Audio Antenna

Question, I have an 07 Nismo King cab...does it come with a stubby antenna? I was always wondering because I don't have an antenna, just a little stub by the right window...and my radio reception sucks ***.

I was impressed with the stock '07 KC Audio system.
And Yes you need an antenna for AM/FM.
Seems Nissan's engineers did a few calculations.
The stock AM/FM antenna screws into the base and is about 30 inches in height.
That means the 50 ohm "Half Wave Diapole" antenna is tuned to the FM Band.
A quater of the radio wave is picked-up by the stick, ... and the other quater part of the wave is picked up by the truck's body. AM does not really need a tuned antenna.
Rubber Duck antennas are Quater Wave or even Eighth Wave and do not have the reception (micro volts) sensitivity as the 30", but are OK in an urban enviroment where the radio waves are strong.

Antenna Base .... Sheared Off ?

I was checking the little stub and it doesn't seem to have threads in it to screw an antenna into it?
The image below is from the '07 FSM (download of PDF file is somewhere on this site).
The antenna base accepts the rod with a universal standard size & thread.
I bet shanny55 your old antenna sheared off at the base.
You will need to "dig-out" the screwed in part (like a busted bolt head) first.
Then just screw in a new universal FM rod.
Stereo is best with a "radio wave signal capture device". ( ie: the freekin' antenna).

Has anybody installed the under dash antenna they sell.... I was planning on getting rid of the outside antenna. Or buying a kit i can put on the rear window....
I have an under dash antenna in my 70 cougar and i think it pics up better signal then the one in my truck. Im tempted to take it out and try it in my truck and see how it performs then just carry my ipod when im driving the car around.

No I don't! I've never had one since I bought the truck! My buddy owns the dealership, I will have to give him a ring. I will check it out when I get home and let you know what's there, maybe I will take a picture. Odd tho!
