Does anybody know if there is a cooler/tub that slides in between the bed extender and tailgate (closed)? Something to hold ice and beverages with a drain near the bottom.

I don't think that I am the first with such an idea, so that's why I post it here. I'm no good with fabrication and I am looking for any ideas, references, suggestions etc.

It'd be ice for tailgating and enjoying a "cold one."

are you looking for a closing, insulated cooler that would keep food/drink/ice cold in hot weather or an open tub to hold ice and drinks for a few hours? either way, i can't say i've seen anything specifically for the bed extender. my suggestion would be to just find a cooler that fit the space most effectively and use that. there are several that are wide and low and that would fit nicely between the bed and extender. something around 30x20x18 or should fit well and have a capacity around 70 quarts or so. if you want something that would be an exact fit with contoured edges and such...i think it will be tough to find...or justify producing for such a small market.

however, i am working on a "cooler cage" for the utilitrack that should allow securing of a normal cooler as well as the contents. as i've discussed this idea, for someone with a $30.00 igloo and a case of bud light, it usually seems silly, but when you start getting into large capacity marine coolers and such that may be filled with hundreds of dollars worth of fish, seafood, meat, etc, keeping it secure becomes more of a priority - at least for me.

back when I had my bed extender on I stuck a rolling 85-quart igloo cooler in the exact spot you are talking about and while it wasn't "snug" it couldn't move more than a inch or two in any direction....just don't fill it then try and lift it into place :airhead:
