Well, started out the day making the 160mile one-way trip to Uprev. shinermiller and fishy_frontier was going to meet up with me at Uprev today. I and shiner have been working on a new mod recently and we were going to get a before and after dyno done so we could post up results. BUT....Uprev called me when I was 1/2 there with the bad news that just they broke their dyno :comphead:. They had dyno day this past saturday and I guess it went out on them then. shiner had done made it almost all the way to austin. fishy fortunately lives in the area. Oh well, at least they called me. A little earlier would have been nice, but they tried. They have to try to get it fixed and are hoping it might be up by the end of the week. We were looking forward to posting up about this new mod today, just wanted to verify it's gains on the dyno first. Maybe by the end of the week......
Anyway, I started the drive back home. All the way home, I'm all down-in-the-dumps. When I get home, I decided since I had the day off, I would at least try doing some research to try to solve my 4.11 gear non-fitmant issue. For those that don't know, I just ordered Truetrac and 4.11 gears 2 weeks ago. When I tried to get them installed they discovered my driveshaft flange has the wrong spline count. They did manage to get my Trutrac installed, which really rocks BTW. Anyway, in the mean time I've discoved Nissan has 8 different flanges for our frontiers and nobody stocks them. So I've been hitting a wall trying to identify the correct one. 4-bolt with 29 slpine is what I need.
Like like an idiot I just now got around to calling the company who sold me the gears--4x4parts.com. Should have done that right away. They understood the problem, and to my surprise, they have a 4-bolt 29spline flange in stock :). So they are shipping it out asap. When I get it and confirm it fits, I'll make sure I'll post up the part number(if I can find it) on this forum for others who decide to go with gears in the future.
So if I'm lucky I might get on the dyno to test the new mod, get retuned, and have 4.11 gears installed all in the next week or so.

Will this work for a auto tranny 4x2?
The new mod = yes. The gears = no. The flange = who knows. Of course you can find gears easy from nissan for the c200 you have.

So thats why Kerry called me today about lunch...
Yeah, we were all hoping to have some fun up there today. If they get the dyno fixed by the end of the week, I'll be heading back up there again. Your welcome to drop by too if we try again.

The UpRev part sucks but atleast they called you instead of just letting you arrive. Now you know to call them before leaving to make sure everything is a go, lol.

Now for the flange issue, didn't Penski run into it with CrimsonDuke (I think that was him) when he with with a gear change? I remember there being something like the D60 fange worked.

I am just glad to hear the 4x4parts has realized this and has stocked some replacement flanges for the owners who have the spline count issue.

Yeah, penski did. He was trying to help out and came up with some after market ideas that should work. I was trying to go the oem route first.
Too bad there isn't an easy way to tell how many spines your stock flange has. Its gonna cost me another $300 bucks because I have to get everything pulled out again.
Uprev says they will keep in touch with me this week & let me know when they get back up. They think and hope the dyno's computer crashed and are sending it off to dynojet. They say thats the easiest, fastest, and cheapest route. Worse case they will have to fly a dyno mechanic to their shop. thats when it starts getting expensive and more down time.

kinda sucks but at least you didn't make it all the way down there...
Yeah, it sucked. Thought about going on the rest the way to Uprev for a street tune. But I really want to see accurate results on the mod, and a dyno is the only good way for that.
