I HAVE SEARCHED ;-)

I installed my D3 like 3 years a go. 1st question I should have asked back then was - What is the impedance of the stock non-RF speakers. Now I know it is 2 ohms. At the time someone had posted that running 2ohm spkrs on a 4ohm sys will blow the speakers. So I figured - so what eventualy I will replace the speakers.
Don't know why I did not catch that fallacy back then but... Running 2 ohm spkrs on a 4 ohm head unit could blow the amp NOT the speakers. Well I have been running 2 ohms x 4 channels on my D3 (as are may others from my forum search) for 3 years and it still works and the dash is not melted. An installer had told me that Pioneers actually do quite well running on 2 ohm speakers as compared to other brands, not that he recommended it but...

Anyway to my issue - and remember this is an 06 CC nonRF system.
the front speakers and tweeters are 4 ohm - OK, right? - WRONG! They are wired in parallel so the amp sees 2 ohms. Which on a stock system balances with the 2 ohm rear speakers.
I am going thru the final step (FINALLY!) of replacing my stock speakers. All my replacements are 4 ohm. So when I am done my D3's amp will see 2 front channels at 2 ohms and 2 rear channels at 4 ohms.
In theory the fronts will be louder (I dont think this is an issue, is it?) and I will not be loading my amp as heavily any more.
Any thoughts? Does this matter?

your not really telling us anything we didnt already know. if you want to fix the 2ohms on the front channels then just remove or clip the wires to the "tweeters" in the dash.

back at ya, yes if I remove 1 of the 4 ohm loads the amp will see 4 ohms...

Sorry I could not find this when I searched.
So I am to gather that everyone with a non RF sys who replaces their speakers has either eliminated the tweeter (bad idea IMHO) or is running iwth 2 ohm load up front and 4 ohm load in the back. So maybe one of them can comment on how this sounds...

Also I have recently read (on the internet so its gotta be true!) that running mixed loads ie 2 ohm front and 4 ohm rear is worse than running all 2 ohms on a 4 ohm amp. Anyone?

I settled on the solution.
For me anyway, but I suppose everyone else already knew this.

As I want to keep the 2 speaker set up in front and would be more comfortable running 4ohm all around on my D3 I am going to find a crossover on eBay (For example). This way the amp sees 4 ohms not 2.
And of course the added benefit of a proper crossover rather than just a high pass filter on the tweeter.
