I was thinking of adding a 2nd battery ala my 1980 landcruiser diesel, but our frontiers don't have much extra space under the hood.
Has anyone added one in a convenient spot else-where?
My boat has an isolator switch so I can run either or both batteries (or none) Any ideas?

Plenty of room under the bed (well at least mine but I have a long bed) if you make a proper battery holder. If you use a gel battery (Optima) it can be mounted in any direction the battery doesn't have to be standing up.

and if you wanted it selectable that could be done easy enough if you are able to do some wiring. it would take some solenoids with a switch set up as center position of standard batt on then like up position of only aux bat on and a down position of standard batt and aux batt on. but thats on the more complex end and would need some extra wiring for the accessories that you would want to possibly run off the aux batt. with the boat it was wired from the start to allow isolation of the batts to begin with and going isolation is probably more work than its work to do on the truck when adding one so the second route would be to just have them set up as standard batt always on and when the aux batt comes on it just links the two. under the bed would seem like the best bet for open space
