Audio System is 3/4 of the way in - Pics Inside

So today I put my stereo system in which is comprised of:

Alpine PDX-5 (Alpine PDX-5 5-channel car amplifier 75 watts RMS x 4 + 300 watts RMS x 1 at Crutchfield Signature)
MTX enclosure (with 300w sub) (MTX ThunderForm Unloaded Enclosure Holds a single 10" sub — fits 2005-up Nissan Frontier Crew Cab at Crutchfield.com)
Alpine SPS-600 (Alpine SPS-600 Type-S 6-3/4" 2-way car speakers — fits in 6-1/2" or 6-3/4" openings at Crutchfield.com) - REAR
Alpine SPR-13S (Alpine SPR-13S 5-1/4" component speaker system at Crutchfield Signature) - FRONT

I never got the front speakers installed today because I ran out of wire (and luckily I did as it got dark out when i began cleaning up)

Everything went in OK. The power wire was easy to install thanks to a hole on the drivers side already. Amp is behind my drivers side rear seat against the wall. I ran all new speaker cable to the rear door (which wasnt as easy on the first door since i had no idea what to expect, the 2nd door went smoother of course)... i even ran the wire through the existing gromets/wire cover so it looks factory. I was upset at first, the speaker wouldnt fit in the holes... then i found that Alpine included the speaker bracket as well, so then it all fit.

It sounds good, has some nice bump actually. Im impressed for a single 10" sub. Can't wait to get the components in next weekend 50' of wire is on the way to me. Here are some photos...

Fused wire coming off battery (secured it to the top of my fuse holder, made sense to me, lol)

The wire going along the engine (lil dusty in there)

The MTX enclosure fits nicely

The only part im not happy about, i didnt secure it to the back wall (theres a plastic opening for airflow behind this seat, so can't secure it exactly and i keep my camera tripod on the other side so i didnt want to take up that space as it fits my tripod perfectly)

you can take that back carpet peice out and put it aside

their is a tab on the right side(driver side of the vent and a tab in the middle if you screw your amp onto 1/2 wood or i used 3/4 mdf and hollowed out the back where the vent was and screwed it to the tabs on each side and the amp is alot more secure than it was just sitting back there-

seat still close just have to bump it a little harder to close

hopefully i helped

I have wires going through that vent that I don't want to crimp/etc... but i get what your saying... basically mount the amp to a piece of wood thats bigger then the vents, that way i have wood going OVER the vent and it extends past and ic an use that to drill.. not a bad idea and i was just given a saw and a big ole piece of furniture grade wood today i could use to do that, then i could spray paint it also to make it disapear into carpet, that might work actually very well

thunderform sound?

Not sure if I understood correctly,....you bought the thunderform "unloaded" and put your own sub in? What make/model of woofer did you use? I keep flirting with the idea of buying one of those, but imagine it will leave me unsatisfied after the last several years of 2 soundstream spl 10's in my old truck. Thoughts? Have you owned other subs before?

P.S. please put some black split wire loom over your power wire,...it makes it look more pro.

The enclosure came with a 10" MTX sub. 300w they say. Compared to what i've owned before... well lets do it this way...

my isuzu rodeo had 2 12" crystal subs... can't compare it to that realy
My 2002 frontier had dual 8" kicker subs... those wernt too bad

the 1 10" i say is probably better then my old dual 8" setup in my old truck... for the price and space it takes up, id say its DEFINITLY worth it.Its actually very solid i think. Its not competition winning but this is my daily driver and i dont need to lose my hearing, but its definitly got some bass when i crank it up.

the first gens can fit dual 8" subs back there if you remove the spare tire jack, i know this for a fact.

BTW the photo is actually democrat point (robert moses beach on long island, ny)

Nice set-up, but there is one thing. It looks like that amp will virtually get no airflow. It's very well possible under a heavy load (crankin' it for a while) it can over-heat. I'd put it under the seat if there is adequate room. You could run the cables through the center console, then run the sub lead under the door sill plate so you won't see the wires.
