Recently purchased 01 Frontier XE 4x4. Really a nice truck. Learned that it came from the dearler with 265/75R15s which are supposedly the equal to the 31/10.5R15(LT) that are on it. I'm not a proponant of oversize tires (more into fuel economy etc). Checked the first tank full as was only getting +/- 14 MPG. IS this normal or main due to the tire size. Plan on changing out the plugs, air & fuel filter etc and take it in for a tune. Input...?

01 Mpg
Got the truck from a local. Was apparently sitting for quite some time as the Mesa A/Ps that were on it had developed flat spots. Replaced Michlen LTX, 30/9.5R15s. Am quite familiar with the desert and Mt roads here throughout the state. Will be using the truck primarily for hwy driving at this time. Later for camping and fishing etc trips. Wondering what the typical MPG for this truck (01 king cab, 4x4 6cyl auto). Really hope it will get better than 16. Other 6 cyl I'm familiar with get 16-18 city and 20-22 hwy.

Welcome to the club.
My 01 CC 6cyl 2wd got 17 mpg city, which is probably the best you'll get from the 3.3L v6. You didnt mention the miles, but with it being 01, I'd say your best bet would be to change the plugs.

The 01 has just just over 78,500 miles on it which is the main reason I bought it, although I was really expecting to get more around +/-18 in town and + 20 on the hwy. Bought it to bop around town in instead of my 07, 5.9diesel which gets +/-16 in town and +20 hwy (thats running empty). My Mrs isn't too happy rite now. Will give it some time with some of the changes and see what I get.
Anyone using chips, intakes, exhausts that they've found helps?
