I have a nismo model with a bad trans, looking at possible replacement but want to know if a normal auto will work or do I have to get a off road model trans?

All the transmissions on the frontiers are the same as long as you get the same type, i.e. 2wd or 4x4 & for the V6 motor. However, the newer models ('13 & up) have reconfigured TCMs to meet scricter fuel economy regulations. What that means is the shift parameters are different than the older models in that they try to reach the higher gears sooner to help with fuel economy. The only difference between your nismo model & all others is, if i remember correctly, different seat upholstery & floor mats, maybe rims, chrome tip on the exhaust, & a few other small things. Basically, your nismo trans is the same as everybody elses, mechanically speaking. Hope that helps & good luck!
