So I just ordered the adjustable shackles from PRG and noticed that the Deavers product description mentions that just running shackles could cause axle wrap or bending of the stock leaf. Anyone had this problem? I am planning to order the Deavers too just wondered if it would matter if I ran just shackles for a month or two, with no serious off-road driving Also if I adjust the shackles to the max 2 inch lift should i replace the brake lines with longer ones?

I run shackles and all its done over the last 4 years is make the leafs flat
Shackles aren't the primary cause for de-arching of the '05+ rear leaf springs. They're crap from the factory.

OP: I had run Calmini shackles along with AC coils (the coils were not fun) to level the stance. They performed as shackles would, about ~1.5" lift. Took them off when I removed the AC coils so as not to have a rake. The Calmini shackles did not have a negative/positive affect on the stock suspension (aside from providing slight lift). If I had to do it over again the AAL (Add-A-Leaf) would have been my first choice.

Rear brake lines are long enough for the use of lift shackles on the '05+ (and possibly more). Not sure on shocks, but measurements will tell you the answer.

the reason that use of them can cause those problems is because they change the geometry of the leafs themselves causing the spring rate to be lowered.

People running using a lift shackles and AAL's have a problem with the rear wheels hitting the body when flexed.

mine never hit anything until I went to a 12 1/2 in. tire now it rubs the frame sometimes when flexed right
Not one or the other but the two combined together.

i've been using A/C adjustable shackles for the past 30k miles and my leaf springs are so flat the are actually a bit arched the wrong way! i have 3" coil spacers up front and have the adjustable shackles set on their highest lift setting and the truck sits level. Maybe even the front sits 1/2" higher than the rear.

I'll be replacing the shackles with add-a-leafs soon.

so my shackles arrived from PRG yesterday and i went out and looked under the truck just to see what it was looking like...anyway i guess i don't need to worry about my leafs flattening with shackles cause they are already flat and almost bent the wrong way. Before anyone asks it has 48k on it no heavy towing or carrying. So will deavers help me now or do i need a whole new leaf pack?
