This mark has been on the hood of my 2023 Frontier since purchased new. I assumed it would come off after a couple washes but it’s still just as prominent.

Any thoughts/advice on removing? It’s only visible at night and with a flashlight pointed.

I believe it’s from protection film they put on the vehicles from transport. It would benefit from a nice wash and wax and probably come off no problem. Maybe ask the dealer to do it since you just got it.

Not really, but I’d like to know what it is and how to remove it.

It's the sticky residue left when they took off the hood film that Nissan installs for transportation. You can use Goo Off and it'll buff off. I have used it to remove stickers & 3M tape. It's never damaged the paint.

Thanks - it’s not sticky though. Completely smooth … that’s what I find strange about it.

You could always also do a light clay bar and a compound/polish and make it go away.

GooGone or a citrus like cleaner if its residue from the protective film. Just remember to wax area after you use the GooGone, it will remove the protective wax as well.
It looks like an overspray line from when body shops paint parts on vehicles??

Since you say it is smooth to touch and only see it with a flashlight, I suspect it is light clear coat scratches/swirls?? If that is the case, a light polishing with a DA polisher should take that out, followed by a wax/sealant.
Hard to tell with the provided photos.

Black looks great clean and polished, but shows every scratch and imperfection very easily. But it hides dirt well.
White shows all the dirt and tar easily, but hides scratches and imperfections well.

I'd pay a visit to the dealer before I went after it with any kind of cleaner or elbow grease. If it's some kind of defect or a poor pre sale prep, they should take care of it.

Only if it was just sprayed within a few days, once paint is cured acetone won't hurt a thing.

I have used lacquer thinner for many years for stuff like this as well. Learned this "trick" in the auto body trades. You just have to know the chemicals limits.

No not yet - these posts have made me feel I can resolve the issue myself. I will provide an update once I try the above.

I remember years ago I went to pick up a truck I had had serviced at a dealership. When I got it back it had black spots all over the hood. I asked the service manager the best way to clean the spots up. His answer ........ 'the fool that that put the **** on there'.

So in this case I'd hustle back to the dealer and have them deal with it.
