I'm debating what kind of shell to get on my new truck. I had a SnugTop Cab-Hi on the old truck, and I liked the look, but my head brushed against the top of the shell when sitting up on the bed I built in the back. I built the bed to go just over the wheel-well, so I don't think I can make the bed lower. The other obvious fix would be to buy a taller shell, but I'm not sure how that would look, especially if I wanted to put a roof rack on top.

Anyone have any pictures of a Frontier with a high shell on it? Any other thoughts?

Personally I would not replace an existing camper shell with a new one simply out of how much brand new ones cost if the current one is adequate even if not perfect. However, since these trucks have been around forever and ever, it is not unreasonable to replace an existing shell with a decent used one. If you're in no hurry then check your local autowreckers and craigslist every couple of weeks to see what you find.

I had a shell on my first '95 Hardbody, rear window glass was busted out when I bought it, had it on there for a couple of years until I needed to haul too much yard waste and took it off. It left with the second '95 Hardbody when I gave it to my parents to drive. Thought about getting another shell and a high-topper at that but most of what I used a truck for wasn't especially good with a shell. I'm even considering pulling it off of this truck at least temporarily so that I can get my cargo management utili track rails installed.

ARE's website (4ARE.com) has quite a few pics...you'll need to select which topper to view.

I have had a raised canopy for 10 years now - I love it. I had the regular height ones in the past and I was always wanting more space to bring back larger items. Mine is a LEER and it fits quite well, the height of it is slightly lower than factory roof rack. I was able to haul back an entire bunk bed with both double mattresses inside my canopy. Love it - will buy another one for my next truck.

I have a SnugTop hi-rise shell on my 2013 Pro4x. It looks good and provides lots of interior space. The hatch latch is a piece of junk but otherwise I am very pleased with it.

As a caver I am often changing clothes in the back of the truck. The extra 6 or 7 inches of headroom in the hi-rise shell makes that possible.
