I have a 2002 Frontier, no sc. it is leaking coolant from what looks like part of the throttle body, which seems weird. i was wondering it anyone else has ran into this, and if so what the gasket or seal is that i need, so i can pick it up before i take the truck all apart haha.
thanks

Coolant lines often run through the throttle body (more exactly the idle speed controller attached to the throttle body) so that engine temperature is recognized. I can't help you with the part numbers, but the job shouldn't be too difficult. Is there a way that you can *slightly* tighten bolts in the area of the leak?

I can confirm this diagnosis. The coolant appeared on the manifold and would occasionally leak down to the ground behind the engine. Had the repair done and leak resolved.

How difficult was it when you switched it out? I just picked up a Chilton and cannot find a "wax thermo element" or a "cold idle control" anywhere in it. I did find the "fast idle cam adjustment" and it seems to have the correct part behind it, trust me I know where the leak is, but doesnt mention anything about switching it out! :comphead:

They are varible in difficulty, mine was done with the throttle body still installed.

If your car is compliant you drain some coolant or clamp off the coolant hose to the thermo element and remove the hose from the thermo element. Then using a phillips head screw driver remove the screw from the c-shaped retainer on the front of the throttle body and once the screw is removed, remove the retainer. The thermo element on mine slid out of my throttle body without too much effort using a pair of channel locks. The new unit will come with a spring loaded carrier, you will need to apply pressure to the spring to remove the new element. Clean the opening of the hole, then put a little coolant on the oring of the new unit to lube it for easier installation. I was able to put the new one in by hand. After the new unit is seated, replace the retainer and install the screw. Put the hose back on and top off or refill coolant.

Be careful when applying pressure while removing the element as sometimes heavly corroded throttle bodies can break a chunk out and then you have to replace the throttle body. If yours is a PITA, then you will need to remove the throttle body and do it on a bench. Hope this helps you.

Yeah It is dripping down and hitting your valve cover and your manifold... Mine does it too.... BUT I think I have found it to be mt hose clamps on the small hoses under the TB

Leaking Anti-Freeze

First Time Thread...Glad I found you guys! I have developed a small leak in my '02 Supercharged Frontier...seems to be coming from under the intake throttle body. There is a small "L" shaped cadmium plated, strap Bracket with a small cadmium plated pipe, soldered to this L bracket. The Anti-Freeze is "dripping" right onto this bracket. I have refilled my overflow bottle (to the left of radiator) a couple times. I suspect the flow of AFZ worsens as I drive cause the A/C hose to the right (same side) is drenched in AFZ...as well as the smell of AFZ as I exit the truck...Can anyone suggest a fix to the leaking...Thank you:sickly:

Antifreeze Leak

Thank you NISLO...for the lightnin' fast responce...

There is a couple of Nissan Owners experiencing the the same problem I'm having...interestingly enough...

A gentleman in the "DIY/Tech Tips" section of this forum, username: WestFrontier...has two pics of the exact area in question...

It seems there is a cold air sensor and and O-ring involved. One Gentleman stated that he simply renewed the O-ring and it fixed the problem...

Thank you again NISLO, for your help
