so got stuck in the snow on Friday after trying for hours to get it out the front diff had a nice loud pop and the situation went from bad to worse. we ended up getting off the mountain at around midnight and had to leave the truck. that night it dumped about a foot of snow on it and we were luckily able to find a local with a winch to help us out and then i made it down in 2wd. hopefully Nissan will cover it under warranty but man what a pos i can not believe it broke we really have very weak diffs.

Time to find an M205. Doesn't Blk05 etc.... have one for sale in CA?
while your at it you might as well get the rest of the stuff and do the whole titan swap and get that nice 3 inch wider track and extra travel

The only thing they can try and get you on is the tires since the lift does nothing about the diff except dropping it a few inches. The tires are what add the extra strain on the system. Just find a mod friendly dealership and you should be good.

i knew posting it that i would have loads of haters blaming driver error because i was the same way up until Friday. but fact of the matter is i was in the snow and yes there was wheel spin and trying for hours doesn't mean i was in gear spinning the tires smart guys. total time of wheel spin in snow could not have been more then 5-10 min and the last attempt the truck had been fully shoveled out. and again thanks for the shovels and help Tim oh and the rescue lol.

right on maybe some one up there has a set of stockers he could throw on to take it to the dealer. or even if 4 people could donate their original spares for a week while its in surgery.

OK... There was a thread not long ago about the correct use of when 4X4 should be used. That said the answer by the all the vetrian off roaders was you can use it AS LONG AS YOUR TIRS CAN SLIP, BUT WET ROADS ARE NOT SLIPPY ENOUGH. Well by those pics... thats as slippy as your gonna get. This diff failure is completely unacceptable, IMHO.

I had a few issues right when I got my truck, was ready to trade it in on a Yota. But since thoes issues my truck has been 100%, so I started to love it again. But time and time again, I hear these diffs, shlting the bed, as soon as you really need it. I mean of corse it wont brake if your just a little stuck. But we all paid good money for our trucks, and we bought 4X4 in case we get stuck.

I think we all understand that its not a tank and we indeed may get stuck even with 4X4, but by no strech of the imagenation should you EVER, EVER brake your 4X4 while being completely stuck! Its not like he was rock crawling. That I could understand that he broke.

So I would like to hear from some of the members who posted in this thread.... http://www.clubfrontier.org/forums/f8/4x4-wet-pavement-52666/ I just would like to find a better understanding of what is ok to do and what is def a no,no.
EDIT: Link isnt working. Thread name is 4X4 on wet pavement?
