Ok for the past couple of months now my 07 XE has been a pain in the a%$ to fill up with gas. It seems like it cant get enough air to vent in the fill up hose so it will just shut the pump off as if it were completely full. I have to move the spicket around and at half flow to get the gas to flow to the tank. Im curious if anyone else has had this problem? Im wondering if it is the gas fume canister that has to do with emissions of some bs. It threw a code a couple of years ago and thats what the dealer said it was but they told me not to worry about it. Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks man, that answers a lot of questions. I almost bet its my damn EVAP canister because it was around 2 yrs ago when it threw a code saying that the EVAP canister needed replacing. The service manager at my local Nissan house told me not to worry about it unless I was worried about emissions, which I could give two sh*% about. I am really tempted to just rip the thing off but I imagine that it would screw something up since its a newer pickup.

Your welcome, I really don't know what would happen if you just pulled it or gutted it. I know these newer vehicles are very finicky when it comes to emissions. I have also had this issue twice. Now that I fill up from a half tank once a week<<<(not always feasible) and start pumping gas at a slow rate then increase to full flow I haven't had any issues. It may possibly be a design flaw.

Im not sure if its a design flaw because up until about 2 months ago I never had a single problem filling up and I bought the truck with 26K on it about 4 yrs ago. Unfortantly like you said newer pickups have all the computer crap on them that makes it difficult to make any "backyard" mods.

I know this is an old thread, but this is definitely a known issue with these trucks, from what I've read, and it's likely a design flaw, but I think most owners just except it. I have the exact same issue on my BRAND NEW 2017 Pro4x. On my very first fill up, the pump stopped 3 times and I then realized after driving a few miles that the tank still wasn't full. I will definitely be taking it to the dealer and, since it's a brand new truck, they will be replacing whatever parts are needed to fully correct the issue.

Also, you definitely can't simply remove or modify emissions components, especially if you live where emissions testing is mandated, because your vehicle will fail the test.

My SES has been throwing the evaporate canister code for 4 years. Fortunately mine appears to be stuck open and fill ups aren't much of a problem. I just ignore the light. Maybe I should just put a sticker over it. Dealer wanted $900 bucks to "fix it". Not a fringing chance am I paying to fix something that has no impact on vehicle performance. Nissan should be fixing this design flaw for free.

I actually had similar problems with my previous 2005 Chevy Colorado. I wound up replacing the Canister and purge valve myself for about $200 and that fixed the problems. I have no idea what those parts would cost for this truck, but probably similar.

Usually just replacing the evap system vent control valve fixes the problem of difficulty when filling. It's not that difficult to change.

my 2008 had this problem in 2014, shortly after fueling problem the cel light came on. Truck was still on extended warrenty. Dealer replaced EVAP SOLENOID and have not had trouble since. The dealer told me solenoid had been redesigned twice at that time.

Its an EVAP problem that is known with our trucks, I have a 16 Pro4x and did this to me on my 4th fill up, they jimmy rig something around the nozzle piece with foam, was a quick fix, haven't had a problem since

Please elaborate on this, which nozzle pice. are you talking about foam around the nozzle where you fill your truck of the nozzle of the evap canister vent valve thats attached to the evaporations canister. I live in Saskatchewan Canada and it was -49 degrees. Standing outside to fill when its clicking is fruiting in this climate.

Yikes that's cold!!!
I was talking about behind the nozzle spout. If you look underneath/rear wheel well, they put foam around mine and must have done something to it since i haven't had an issue since!

I have noticed this issue when it is raining outside! As silly as this may sound I associate it with a Barometric pressure issue or humidity???? I will look into the EVAP problem fix
I know this is an old thread, I’ve never had this problem with my 2016, which I bought used in 2019. we’ve literally had no rain the last few years here in the Bay Area, CA and finally have had some wild storms the last month or so. Just started having this issue. Seems it may be linked, not sure. Will continue to monitor and if it poses a long term problem will start looking into this system to figure out what’s going on.

The pumps have been cutting off about 3/4 full.
Annoying to sit there and fidget with it for a while after.

It’s definitely worse when it’s raining or a lot of snow. My vehicle starters doing this after ice fishing

We haven’t had any significant rain here in Northern California since I’ve purchased the truck three years ago so I’m just now noticing it. Will track this through summer to see if it doesn’t resolve and then do a little more troubleshooting if needed.

good to know others are experiencing similar results when there’s moisture outside- makes it seem like a little more normal behavior.

Thanks for the info.
