Need to know, what is the difference between the ka2.4de in the Frontier and the Altima? I've heard various things but can never seem to confirm.
Is there anything that keeps the Altima engine from being used in the Frontier?

Altima is FWD, Frontier is RWD so externally motor and transmissions are completely different.

Back when I had a 1989 Mazda MX6 turbo, there was a guy that swapped turbo internals to a B2200 and made a custom exhaust. The engines were the same, just one was FWD and other was RWD. The power went from 85 hp @ 4,500 rpm · 118 lb-ft @ 2,500 rpm to 145 hp @ 4,300 rpm · 190 lb-ft @ 3,500 rpm so must of been a kick in the pants to drive.

Thanks for replying! I was pretty sure that was the case, I just kept seeing the two engines referenced together.
Considering your combo with turbo was around a 60% boost in power, that had to be a blast!

THe long blocks are most likely the same. The intake/exhaust manifold are different. You can get the block and swap over all of your bits.

Considering that I spun two bearings, that's what I really need! I have all of the other bits.

I'm almost willing to wager that the block castings are different to allow for mounting locations, coolant inlets/outlets, and for fitment.
