I was just wondering how much an 02 Frontier XE 4X4 alternator can handle. I have a pair of 100watt PIAA, a pair of 85watt Hella's, 55watt OEM fogs, and 65watt High beams which I am considering wiring the 100watters into the high beams with relay of course (85's are already with no problems). I just don't want to destroy the alternator. Can it handle 200+170+110+130=610watts continuously (though it is tied to the high beams so it wouldn't be on all the time. Everything is wired with 12 & 14 gauge wiring. Input is greatly appreciated as always.

Please do not mention HID's instead. I cannot stand them.

thats 50 amps. do you plan on having them all on at the same time? if not then it shouldnt be an issue. also, i doubt your housings would stand up to 100w high beams. thats a lot of heat. not only could it melt the housing it could melt the socket itself causing a short which in turn could cause a fire. do you really want to burn your truck to the ground over a little light?

Miss communication

I think there is a miss communication here. The high beams are normal 9007 55w/65w (Lo/Hi). I have a pair of 100watt PIAA 940's. I want to tap into the high beam wire with an inline fuse and relay. The high beam is just used for the trigger and the actual wattage will not be running through the factory light harness. I was just wondering if the stock alternator could handle that much juice. All OEM light sources (Headlights + Fogs) use appropriate wattage bulbs. The Hella's and PIAA's are higher wattage. I apologize for the confusion. Thanks for the response.

Set things straight

Ok so...
Headlights = 9007 Bulbs (55Lo/65Hi)
OEM Fogs = H3 Bulbs (55w)(Has its own relay and harness.)
Hella 500FF = H3 Bulbs (85w) (Has its own relay and harness.)
PIAA 940 = H3 Bulbs (100w) (Has its own relay and harness.)

The only thing the high beams are doing is triggering the relays for these lights. The power comes off the battery. I just wanted to know if the stock alternator can handle that much?
