after years and years of thinking they really help. i have officially stopped buying those intakes and just use a paper filter.

its much safer offroad, and easily replaceable when you have issues or they get caked with dirt.

The stock air filter system is a cai.
Don't think you can improve over stock.
Never thought much of K&N.

I have a K&N filter currently. I'm looking to purchase soon from UpRev and I'm not sure if whether or not that I don't have a traditional "Intake" will matter. I've got a Manifold Spacer as well as throttle body spacer so I was gathering info before I purchase from UpRev!!

I bought the K&N drop in filter and did notice a slight mpg increase about 1mpg more then before...... I just rather keep it simple and stock as far as the engine goes.... I had a 04f150 with a CAI and notice that it really just sounded different and about the same in mileage, its a v6.... I say just drop a K&N filter and spend the money for a CAI on something else

I run Amsoil nanofiber air filters( not available anymore) but they are able to be used over and over again. They are a dry filter. You just blow them out and they don't need to be oiled.
I blocked off the inlet to the inner fender well.
When in the silt beds it totally plugged the filter to the point the filter was distorted.
I keep spare filters in the truck and it is just a matter of changing them out.
As far as intakes, built this one just for kicks.
I doubt it will do anything but make more noise.
