Are there any options for a aftermarket gate that does not weigh as much as the stock gate? This is my wifes DD and she is constantly complaining. Has anyone stripped one and cut excess weight from the stock one?

There's lift assist kits but I'm not sure there's one specifically for the Frontier.

Yep, someone made fun of me on facebook for installing the easy down on my tailgate, that its just a "frontier"
yea well, its heavier then any new full size truck, no doubt about it, my buddies f250 fx4's tailgate is like a feather compared to ours.
I would think you could use a shock strut opposite of the easy down, that helps push it back up somehow?

fiberglass hood and tailgate would probably drop 200lbs haha.

The full size truck tailgates (Titan) are even heavier. There is a lift assist spring inside the hinge that give it the light weight feel. I have asked but no one has adapted it for the frontier.
