In an effort to keep my 1/4 million mile frontier on the road I am trying to figure out a coolant leak.

Any advice would be appreciated.

If it is head gasket I am not sure if this truck is worth dropping money into. Any chance some stop leak of sort would help?

Something like Bars Leaks might work OK. It can cause other cooling system problems down the road, but at the age of your engine...

GM also sells stop leak tablets to help combat the massive head gasket leak problem they had with some of their engines. IIRC, the tablets aren't much more than cornstarch, but help in some instances.

Just checked. All cylinders 135-140.

Will try a stop leak next.

Should I check head bolt torque? Can they stretch over time. I'm sure they are original.

Well I'm back in business for the moment. Blue Devil Head Gasket repair seems to have done the trick. I was, and still am quite skeptical about repairs in a bottle but it did take care of the leak from between the block and the head. I have put about 20 miles on it so far and it seems to be holding. I am curious how long it will last and if I will have any adverse effects. Here's hoping I can reach 300K!
