So as I am leaving the store this morning and walking to my truck. There is another Frontier parked next to mine. As I get up to my rig the owner of the one parked next to me says, "nice truck". I respond in kind and I ask him about how his has held up, etc.

His is a non Pro-4X model and he states that the non-4X models are better for average 4wheeling then the E-locker...huh??? I am not one to argue with strangers, but if this is what he truely believes, where would such an idea come from? Dealership/sales person?

And I pointed out that I believe that even the Pro-4X has ABLS. He said no it does not. Am I wrong? And why would the non 4X be "less" capable for "average off roading", whatever that means.

That is what I thought, all Frontiers have it (the ABLS).

I did not know that the Pro-4X has lower gearing. I had a 2009 Xterra S model and if I remember, it was turning the same RPM's as my 4X does at Hwy speeds.

In my mind I would hope this person simply got their info muddy one time too many...

Better for average wheeling? No... Adequate for the average owner who does only moderate off-roading would be my description....

Slightly lower gears and slightly larger tires makes final ratio nearly same as non-Pro.
