On the first day of hunting season I was out camping in California's Coastal Range and boy did I see a lot of the old Tacoma king cabs! I started thinking about my old 4X4 4 cyl automatic shod with the same beefy 32" BFG KO's that I just bought for my Frontier.

Observations:

1. I get 5 mpg better mileage on the highway with my new truck, 17 vs. 22 mpg.

2. I don't have the same squirly rear end in the wet and on gravel roads in 2WD that I had with my old truck.

3. The Frontier has less road noise inside the cabin.

4. My new seats are more comfortable than the old ones and the roomier cockpit makes travel more relaxing.

5. As good as the Toyota's A/C was the Nissan's is much colder.

6. The Frontier 4X4 CC 6 cyl sure is worth more than $25,200 considering in 1997 the Tacoma KC 4X4 4cyl cost about $23K and the power difference is night and day.

Needless to say I'm very happy with my new purchase.

glad you are happy, it is a quality product.

not really fair to compare to a '97 toyota tho. ALL automakers have made major strides in improvements since then. I'm sure if you had chosen a 2010 tacoma you would be saying the same things about it as you are with your frontier!

Unless you don't mind the additional 2 tons+ sitting on your head if you rollover your 2010 Tacoma....

Roof strength evaluations: Small pickups

Their 6-cylinder is :sickly: compared to our VQ40 too.
