Hello, I'm redphone107 from Atlanta. I just bought a 2001 Frontier 4X4 SE with 190K miles. I love this truck and am having a lot of fun working on it and believe me it needs a lot of work. Thanks for the site and see you all in the threads.

I really do love this truck. The previous owner put a 3" body lift on it, 2" in the rear and cranked up the torsion bars in the front. It is such a mean looking truck. It runs good but has several problems.

The truck had a huge valve cover gasket leak. I replaced both covers, PCV and the old oil is still burning off a week later. I sprayed the engine down good because I had another small leak to find out that the leak is coming from the rear main seal. Grrrr.. I am not going to attempt that myself. I also did the plugs and wires, fixed the blinkers and backed off on the torsion bars some. The timing belt, water pump and distributor were done 35k miles ago. I plan on doing the other belts and pulleys this weekend.

My plans are to replace all fluid and filters first. Next I want to do all the brakes and bearings. Question: Do the front and rear bearings have to be pressed out or can I pull them out by hand? I believe there is an inner and outer bearing in each front wheel. Is this correct?

There are other smaller issues, but the truck seems to run great for 190K miles. I will save my other questions for different threads. I can't wait to get back into it this weekend!

Are there any other issues that I should check while I'm working? Any advice? Thanks for all the great info on the site.
