So some of you know I have this vibration when my trucks idling with the A/C on. Its louder then most and needs to get looked at (ive had people ask me what was going on why the truck made such a loud noise). It seems the idle just needs to be adjusted or what not.

So I made an appointment with my local dealer to have my truck fixed. I was having the front cowl replaced since it was fading under warranty. I also decided to have them to a synthetic oil change and mentioned the A/C problem. No problem I was written up with a 9am apointment for today (Thursday).

So I stop in today (Thursday) and drop the truck off. Its got just over 36,000 miles (it had like 34 or 35k when i made my appointment 2 weeks ago the first time [when i went in for cowl replacement]... ive been driving a lot since then)

so anyway everything seems fine but he tells me theres a $115 diagnostic fee as the A/C may not be covered under warranty if its just an adjustment. if a part has to be ordered thats all covered of course, but if hes just adjusting something then its not covered under my warranty after the first year (now keep in mind i've also got the security package for warranty).

So i tell him to just have someone feel the vibration and to call me letting me know what they think it is. No can do, they need to charge a $115 fee to hook it up to the computer and run a diagnostic... ohh k that seems... a little UNFAIR. Trucks 2 years old (probably to the day) and its got a loud vibration thats out of the ordinary when A/C is on... so i tell them forget that part i'll just call nissan direct about it, to do the rest.

sooo i get a call at 4:30 today (i completely forgot i had dropped the truck off i was so busy at work). yeah my trucks not gonna be ready today they need to keep it overnight... err come again now? Cant get an oil change and a piece of plastic removed ALL DAY? So i start questioning why this why that, i had made an appointment for a reason... well they had like 35 other people ahead of me and they were short on techs. i say "well i should have been looked at first i made an apointment for 9am" well apparantly so did everybody else... they get in between 7 and 9:30am for various things... so i start asking him "what kind of dealer schedules 50 apointments in a day when they dont have that many techs, you cant get all that work done" (he said 50 apointments later on)... so i go "how many techs ya got there, maybe 8 max?" thinking 8 was a HUGE number as a dealer i deal with only has maybe 6 techs on at a time... and ive seen their bay, doesnt look like more then 6 areas to work on... he tells me hes got 10 techs on... okay that seems like a lot to me...

so now im really pissed... because not only was the A/C vibration not being looked at, now i couldnt even get an OIL CHANGE and a piece of plastic done... i complained saying that "you guys wont even just give me the piece of plastic to install?" - no can do, because its under warranty THEY have to do it... so basically i was like held hostage today...

real nice the guy waits till 4:30 to call me.. i say "well why didnt you call me at like noon if you knew you were backed up and might not get to me" well hes like "ohh well i was going to try and get a tech to stay late" and yada yada yada, excuse after excuse... so i tell him "okay fine, just send me a rental" ohh well no they don't do that, i have to come to him to get their loaner, they wont send it to me... so i go "uhh its 4:30 and i dont have a ride, so im basically stranded here now" to which he didnt really have an answer...

so basically i got my gf to stop by before she had a meeting (she was a lil annoyed at that) and i call the guy to basically tell him im just gonna pick the truck up and i'll go to another dealer... well hes with another customer, so i tell the girl who answrs my story and ask for the service manager, so she gets .. hey look whos not busy anymore, my service guy... well he says the truck will be ready by 5:30... err but umm you just said it wont be till tomorrow, i planned to come get it tonight... well now the techs already drained my oil and is in the process of the oil change so now ive gotta get the oil change through them (which is kinda pricey)... so i get there at 5:30.. hey trucks not ready.. well gee my gf is about to kill me cause shes gotta get to a meeting and its not 5:35 when he finally gets around to me...

so basically i was given a $15 discount on my oil change and the cowl was replaced also... NOT a happy camper after todays service.

so theres my little story. i plan to call nissan again to complain and ask them for a refund on my oil change, as i was told it would not be ready and i called the dealer back after i arranged a ride 5 minutes later, and by that time the truck was magically being serviced and i had no choice but to pay... what a coincidence ehh

i've been on the other side of that table doing service writing and it can get overwhelming really quick. still, sounds like he made some pretty bad mistakes. also, many times the call center (at least that's what we called it) may not know how many appointments have been made or if they don't have a full staff. we usually would call them and let them know we were covered up for the day so they could start making appointments for the next day. definitely sounds like they need to streamline the process for sure but i can understand how it can happen. the dealership should have "goodwill'd" the diag on the A/C issue, it wouldn't have cost them hardly anything to make you happy about that. but having said that, my FSU went out at 38k miles and i got denied the replacement under warranty so that seems to be pretty typical from nissan dealers in general. i don't understand how $40 plus one hour of a tech's time could have hurt them that bad when i had been bringing them my truck for 2 years to do business. whatever, jerks lol

For three summers now, the A/C in my '06 has been emitting a very loud continuous groan-like noise when the compressor is working, but it's audible only at idle. As soon as the RPMs spin up above 1,000, the noise abates. It cools fine, so I've been putting up with it.

Does anyone know what this could be? In the interest of saving money, I've decided that I'll live with it until something in the system fails.

when I was looking at mine last night, it seemed that the noise was up in the engine and down under the truck also. in trying to take some videos, I'm almost positive the noise is coming from the power steering pump. without the AC on, it's fine, but when the AC compressor comes on, it's as if the extra tension on the belt is causing the power steering pump to vibrate at idle. above idle, it doesn't do it. I would describe my noise as a hydraulic noise like you might hear on amusement park rides, so it would make sense that it's coming from the power steering pump.

Mine's been doing that for years, for as long as I can remember...

I had the same problem with the a/c on in my truck..it would vibrate and sound louder than normal at idle.

The dealership i went to said there was a TSB for this and they raised the idle rpm up a little bit.

Its been over a year since the adjustment. Everything has been great since then.

I will try to look at the paper work they gave me if it mentions the TSB# and reply again later.
